I love writing. I love the freedom that writing gives me and the satisfaction I gain from a well written sentence / paragraph / chapter is like nothing else. Fiction is my thing and I enjoy writing all types; novels, short stories, children’s stories and screenplays.
Life is busy and that is the greatest challenge for all writers; finding enough time and the discipline to write every day. Two kids, a busy full time career, rugby coaching and the quest to keep fit all compete for my time. But it’s part of me. I can’t ignore it. I have itches I can’t scratch. Thorns in my side.
Seemingly great ideas for stories fill my head and notebook every day and the need to get them written and shared is pressing in on my brain. So this is the purpose of this site: a platform to share, gain feedback and collaborate.
The emotional roller coaster of being a writer is one that takes us to the highs of exhilaration and lows of self doubt at break neck speeds, twisting and turning us with the G-force of desperate dreams. I am holding onto the thought that by the time each ride is done I will have a big grin slapped across my face while I run to join the queue all over again! Then again, I could jump off thinking that it wasn’t worth the price of the ticket…
I very much doubt the latter; I love to write. It gives me something I find hard to explain. But what I do know is that whether I see success through traditional publishing or if I do take the self-publishing route, writing will be on my mind and part of who I am for a long time yet. I guess I will know what that will look like soon enough.
When I know and what I find out along the way – for good or for bad – I will share it with you all. Watch this space and let’s go for a ride…
Thanks for reading.
Steve.
